About Dr. Artrip

"The art of medicine consists in amusing the patient while nature cures the disease." - Voltaire

Welcome!

I am passionate about holistic approaches to health and well being, and believe every person has the power to live well and vibrantly.  I have been eating Paleo since my undergraduate years when I wrote a thesis on the evolution of the human diet, and have since expanded the concept past diet to the rest of my life -- substantially increasing my health and happiness in the process.  I also began the CrossFit model of training in 2011 and am stronger and leaner than I've ever been in my life.  I have personally witnessed the health benefits of living a Paleo lifestyle in Many Many people and am proud to bring this way of life to as many others as I can.

I am currently in my residency with the University of Arizona Department of Family and Community Medicine.  I received my M.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, where I was recognized by several honors and awards for academic performance and humanism in medicine.  I have studied at Bastyr University school of naturopathic medicine and taken several courses from the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine.
I look forward to becoming board certified in Family Medicine, Integrative Medicine, and Acupuncture.

Outside of work and study, cooking and eating are my primary passions - I just can't be upset when I'm in the kitchen!  I'm also an avid reader and gardener and love to spend time in the great outdoors.  I try to live my life by basic principles-- best expressed in poems like "IF" by Kipling and "What Constitutes Success" by Bessie Stanley.  Be nice, leave the world more beautiful than you found it, and live in the moment.
